A Texas-based parenting magazine client contracted with TFD to improve their SEO performance in October of 2022, here’s what happened since.
OBJECTIVE
This local parenting magazine reached out to TFD for editorial content guidance to produce content that drives traffic through organic search.
STRATEGY
In a partnership that began with a comprehensive SEO Audit, TFD was able to pinpoint and advise on areas negatively impacting technical SEO and gain a foundational understanding of the client’s current strategy.
In bi-weekly client meetings, TFD Strategists educated the client on SEO content best practices and made specific hyper-local and seasonal content recommendations for digital publication.
While having the client focus on content production, TFD addressed technical SEO aspects that were negatively impacting the users experience. TFD communicated these needs to their developer to ensure that content improvements and technical optimizations were being tended to simultaneously.egated information and ease the use of access for members of the full client team.
TACTICS
TFD performed hyper-local keyword research and provided ideas for new high-traffic content like “things to do this weekend near me”, “best places to go ice skating around [DMA]”, and “drive in movie theaters in [DMA]”
TFD analyzed content on the client’s site and provided the client with recommendations for improving the articles, including metadata updates, adding more text to the page, optimizing images and alt-text, formatting adjustments, and as well as increasing the number of internal links.
TFD recommended creating a single page for “Things to Do this Weekend” that gets updated regularly.
TFD created a list of seasonally searched-for content that should be regularly updated with new information, and the client’s team created an internal process to complete the work.
TFD worked with the client to optimize their Calendar page, adding metadata and text to the page, optimizing images, and ensuring it was linked to many times on other parts of the site.
RESULTS
The client’s editorial team took TFD’s direction and wrote compelling pieces, and freelanced out work when their team was out of bandwidth.
The “Things to Do this Weekend” page is now the most popular page on the site, and one of the top drivers of newsletter sign ups.
